I-395 Express Lanes

Description:
Extension of the I-95/I-395 High Occupancy Toll lanes and the 395 Express Lanes for eight (8) miles, from Turkeycock Run in southwestern Alexandria inside the I-495 beltway to the District of Columbia line. The project construction included widening the two existing reversible lanes to create three (3) reversible lanes, adding a fourth southbound lane between Duke Street and Edsall Road, rehabilitating the overpasses, the existing lanes and shoulders, replacing the barriers between the lanes, creating new retaining walls and sound walls, making numerous interchange modifications, and installing new active traffic management and toll equipment. The project also included reconfiguring and improving the Pentagon South Parking Lot. More than 1,800 buses and about 3,400 commuters pass through the South Parking Lot each day.
