Mr. Rene Mariscal, P.E, is one of the Vice Presidents at E.M. Tech. He has over 20 years of experience providing geotechnical, structural, forensic engineering, and QA/QC inspections and materials testing services, including Special Inspections and IBC/IRC Inspections. Mr. Mariscal’s expertise includes a full range of technical, analytical, design, and managerial services.
Mr. Mariscal supervises QA and QC programs for engineered earthwork construction, including stabilized and modified (lime, fly ash, cement) soils, retaining (cast-in-place and MSE) walls, installation of shallow and deep foundations, and inspections of structural slabs (including post-tensioned slabs) for conventional and complex structures. He is currently managing and supervising QA/QC programs for significant highway Design-Build projects. Some notable recent projects include the I-66 EB Lane Widening (Inside the Beltway), the I-95 Express Lanes – STE, the Prince William Parkway Widening, and the Route 1 Improvements projects. He is currently managing and supervising the QC services at the I-95 Fredericksburg Extension project.
Mr. Mariscal reviews and assesses structure designs prepared by E.M. Tech’s engineering staff. These designs include foundations (shallow and deep foundations, mat foundations, etc.), concrete SWM/BMP structures (pond risers, junction boxes, vaults, sand filters, etc.), retaining walls, box culverts, and other structures. He performs geotechnical analyses and modeling for critical slope construction, slope failure analysis, etc. He also supervises monitoring programs and assesses structures where sensors and instrumentation are used and performs pre-construction, construction, and post-construction investigations and analysis.
Mr. Mariscal has authored several articles with topics addressing expansive soils and lime stabilization, soils polluted by hydrocarbons, geotechnical characterization, underground modeling of contaminated soils, and geotechnical testing and instrumentation.
